Scuba diving with Coach Bryan

I coach people into the water and through the things that make diving feel hard at first. We take it slowly, one skill at a time, until being underwater feels like somewhere you belong.

Learning to dive should feel slow.

Start with Discover Scuba Diving (Try Diving)

Most people who struggle underwater are not short of nerve, they are short of practice with someone beside them who knows what to look at.

We start where you are comfortable, in shallow water, and go over the small things that nobody gets right the first time: clearing a flooded mask without panic, breathing out slowly on the way up, keeping level instead of sinking into the sand. When those are easy, the dive is easy.

What coaching covers

  1. Breathing and comfort

Regulator breathing, mask clearing, and staying calm when water goes where you did not plan for it to go. We go over each one until it feels ordinary.

  2. Buoyancy and control

Hovering in one spot, rising and descending under control, and moving without touching the bottom. This is the skill that changes every dive after it.

  3. Skills and open water

Putting your kit together, buddy checks, hand signals, and your first open-water dives with someone next to you the whole way down.

Tell me where you are with your diving.

A few lines is enough: whether you have dived before, what you would like to work on, and when you would like to get in the water. I answer every message myself.
